This Sunday, the full Volen Sentir duo returns to Amsterdam to play Moments at Kaap, one of the city's most beloved day-to-night dance experiences. After playing Lost Miracle during ADE and a solo set by Anjei at Kaap last year, this marks their first full appearance at the venue together.
Known for their deeply immersive and melodic sets, Volen Sentir continue to evolve their sound with releases like their recent album The Book of Wisdom, a carefully crafted sonic journey filled with rich textures and storytelling energy. Ahead of the show, we caught up with them to talk memories, musical process, and what the Amsterdam crowd can expect this weekend
You're returning to Amsterdam this Sunday to play for Moments at Kaap. What does it mean to you to come back, and what memories do you have from your previous visits?
We have 2 visits before, 2024. Both were an amazing experience. Summer Kaap with Moments is the best place with best people to spend beautiful summer day. Unforgettable day, first visit of Netherlands 🇳🇱
Lost Miracle at ADE last October was smooth, atmospheric and blasting night with amazing crowd and crew. Very deep experience.
Your recent album The Book of Wisdom is a beautifully detailed and layered release. How did working on a full album shape your creative process, and do you plan to include some of those tracks in your upcoming set at Kaap?
To write an album, to make a whole story is a really challenging and creative process. When you are making not random single tracks, but connected chapters of book, where you must keep attention of reader, not overload but also give it enough tension and involvement for diving into an album.
Let’s see what the vibes will be at Kaap, apparently yes.
For someone who hasn’t experienced a Volen Sentir set before, how would you describe the energy and atmosphere you aim to create?
Every set we are trying to make a story telling trip, with ups and downs of the road in the middle of nowhere. You can walk through forests, mountains, foggy fields, and then ascent to stratosphere and higher. No limits, no boundaries.
When you're selecting or creating music for your sets, what elements are you most drawn to and what makes a track stand out for you?
We are always looking for something special. Something that you have never heard before, that will surprise ourselves, and goosebumps will appear, at-least something soul touching, powerful and beautiful at the same time.
We prefer powerful low end and beautiful melodic elements on top.
Any message you'd like to share with the Amsterdam crowd ahead of Sunday? What can we look forward to?
Let’s hug!
